Nightmare Marginalia
A limited-run zine of quotidian horrors
Throughout history, there have been grand tales of sweeping scope and heroic stakes, documenting the lives of those whose names are forever etched in history.
This place is not for them.
This is the home of footnotes in history. A place investigating the intersection of the fantastic and the mundane, where real people's lives collide with the uncanny, where the horrors are endless but there are still bills to pay.
Nightmare Marginalia is a literary horror zine assembled, edited, printed, and shipped by T.L. Bodine with the support of her Patreon. Each issue is released in a single print run with limited, hand-numbered copies. Seeking art, poetry, fiction, essay, and ephemera on the theme of "The True Cost."
Bring me your stories of survivor's guilt: your final girls, your escaped cultists, kaiju disaster victims. People who have made sacrifices (blood, emotional, spiritual) and now must rationalize and justify them. What happens when the imminent threat is over and they have to live with the consequences of their decisions? Was it worth it? What will they do now to make it worth it?
Deadline: Dec 1, 2026
Length: Up to 4,000 words
Pay: $20 + contributor copies
